Creamy Lemonade Float is a refreshing, fizzy, and creamy dessert drink that combines tangy lemonade with smooth vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. It is perfect for hot days, quick desserts, or party drinks, offering a balance of citrus brightness and creamy sweetness.
Ingredients
For the lemonade base:
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 3 cups cold water
- Ice cubes
For the float:
- 2 to 3 scoops vanilla ice cream
- 1/2 cup chilled lemon-lime soda or sparkling water
- 1/2 cup whipped cream (optional, for extra creaminess)
Optional garnish:
- Lemon slices
- Fresh mint leaves
- Lemon zest
Instructions
- Prepare the lemonade base
In a pitcher, combine fresh lemon juice and sugar. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved. Add cold water and mix well. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness as needed. - Chill the lemonade
Place the lemonade in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to ensure it is very cold before assembling the float. - Prepare serving glasses
Fill tall glasses halfway with ice cubes. This helps keep the drink cold and refreshing. - Add lemonade
Pour chilled lemonade into each glass, filling about two-thirds of the way. - Add ice cream
Carefully place 2 to 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream into each glass. The ice cream will begin to float and slowly melt into the lemonade. - Add fizz
Top each glass with a splash of lemon-lime soda or sparkling water to add a light, bubbly texture. - Add optional cream layer
For a richer version, add a dollop of whipped cream on top of the float. - Garnish and serve
Finish with lemon slices, fresh mint leaves, or a sprinkle of lemon zest for extra aroma and presentation.
Serving suggestions
Serve immediately while cold and fizzy. Stir lightly before drinking to blend the creamy and citrus layers.
Storage
Lemonade base can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Do not assemble floats in advance, as the ice cream will melt and lose texture.
Tips
- Use freshly squeezed lemons for the best flavor.
- Adjust sugar based on the tartness of your lemons.
- Try flavored ice creams like lemon, strawberry, or coconut for variation.
- Add sparkling water instead of soda for a lighter version.
